Carol and Carlton Taylor moved to New Hartford, Connecticut, in 1979, and named their property Birches Pond Farm shortly thereafter. Moving out into the country to a larger house with acreage gave them an opportunity to both pursue their artistic passions, and to work outdoors on gardens and Christmas Trees. After selling Christmas trees for 26 years, they retired from that business in 2013.
Even before moving to New Hartford Carol was an active printmaker, participating in many juried gallery and outdoor art shows. She has won many awards over the years, from prizes for "Best in Category" to "Best in Show", as outlined in her write-up and statement. She continues to show regularly throughout southern New England.
Carlton has actively taken pictures ever since he acquired his first "serious" camera back in college. Since retiring in 2005, he has been able to spend much more time photographing and printing his pictures. He has participated in many juried and gallery shows, and has won a number of prizes for his work.
